Selfie surge means UK is even riper for cosmetic dentistry

By DR SIMON HOCKEN

We’ve talked about the incredible growth of the dental sector before (spending’s increased 27 per cent since 2010) but now there’s more interesting data to substantiate my hunch that it’s because we’re all getting vainer.

A report by Ofcom has found 31 per cent of Britons said they had taken a picture of themselves in the past year, with one in 10 adults taking at least one per week. In other words the selfie has become normal, which is very good news for cosmetic dentistry.

Ofcom also says smartphones have edged ahead of laptops for the first time as the preferred devices for connecting online in the UK – a “landmark moment”.

Better make sure your website works properly on mobiles if you haven’t already.

Best wishes

Simon
